Creative Ideas for the Perfect Parev Party

Parev: (Judaism) containing neither meat nor milk products, so fit for use with either meat or milk dishes.Parev Canapes in cups

As many people know, Kosher meat is very expensive. Yet a wonderful Kosher spread needn’t contain meat, there are so many great alternatives these days which are not only stunning to look at, but easy on the budget too!

With the availability of dairy free cheese and chocolate and the versatility of ingredients such as tofu and soya instead of meat and riches whip instead of cream, guests wouldn’t even notice the difference!

There are so many benefits to opting for a Parev Simcha, firstly you won’t have to worry about dietary requirements as your food will all be suitable for vegetarian and lactose intolerant guests.

All you need to do is find a very creative caterer who has experience with creating dishes which are Parev. So that they are displayed beautifully on a plate and tantalise the taste buds!

Here are just a couple of ideas, I came across which I thought would be perfect at a wedding or Bar/Bat mitzvah.

Kosher Parev Salmon Dish A delicious Parev salmon dish topped with a parsley, red pepper and capers – just serve with your favourite rice, potatoes and vegetable options.

If you don’t eat fish just take out the salmon and you have a healthy yet filling risotto!

FritatisFrittatas are surprisingly filling and very versatile – you can add your favourite ingredients and serve with salad to make a delicious dish!

This one has egg-plant, onions and potatoes but you can add whatever you like!

Vegetable kebabs are great for event catering as they are so adaptable and can be piled high in a wonderfully eye-catching display.

Add your favourite chunky vegetables including red peppers. mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and courgettes and coat with a basil oil – just delicious on their own or to accompany a meat free BBQ!
