How to have a fun and fabulous Hawaiian Party

Imagine bringing a bit of Hawaiian magic to the UK. From palm trees to colourful floral leis and coconuts, wouldn’t that just be the most fun setting for your special birthday, Bar/Batmitzvah, prom or romantic wedding.

A Hawaiian theme is one of our favourites at Dash of Sparkle – our team have so much fun transforming a venue from a blank canvas into a bright, inviting room for the guest of honour and the guests to enjoy. A theme isn’t just about pretty decorations, it’s about creating an experience that screams Hawaiian from start to finish. It’s definitely preferable for summer events when the weather is likely to be warmer, but not essential. Whether you enjoy welcome drinks in the sun or cosied up inside, we’ll bring Hawaii to you!

In the early stages of planning, the theme can be incorporated into invitations and table plans. Your invitations could be decorated with pink flamingos or palm trees and each table named after a different part of Hawaii. That way, when your guests arrive, the seating plan and room sets the scene for the fun in the sun you have planned.

When you enter the room, imagine large inflatable palm trees, tropical coloured balloons, bowls of fruit with banana leaves, a Tiki Bar and grass skirts around the tables. All the guests have floral Lei necklaces and are enjoying tropical cocktails with umbrellas and nibbling on themed canapés. Hawaiian music is playing softly in the background as everyone finds their seats.

Once the atmosphere is set and welcome speeches are done, guests can help themselves to a Mojito or Pina Colada and delicious food from the buffet. The buffet tables can be laid out wherever you like, but they look great on one side of the room, decorated with fresh flowers in tropical colours, coconut shells and plastic flamingos on stilts! How about offering the guests a variety of options to tantalise their taste buds? The food stations could be Chinese, Mediterranean style, or a salad bar. The one thing you can’t miss out on is a chocolate meringue swan and mini chocolate cake bites! Once you see and taste those you feel as if you have been magically transported to Hawaii.

It goes without saying that a Hawaiian celebration wouldn’t be complete without entertainment. If you’re having a DJ, doing the limbo to some authentic Hawaiian music is a fun activity that gets everyone involved. To add more for the kids, you could have a pinball machine, a magician or a hula hooper. If you choose not to have a DJ, there are plenty of exciting entertainment ideas in our previous blog! http://www.dashofsparkle.com/unique-entertainment-ideas-for-an-event-without-a-dj/
